Wondering What Career is Right for YOU?

Head to http://www.careercruising.com and investigate.  You can take a career interest inventory that will suggest possible careers for you to consider as well as let you explore colleges and universities.  This site is great!  To use the program, go to the website and use the username: patokahs and the password: careers.  To take an interest inventory, you will need to create your own account.  It is never too early to start thinking about your future.

SAT for Seniors

The SAT will be given to seniors on October 14 here at school.  Since the test was cancelled in April 2019, the Illinois State Board of Education is giving us another chance.  Each student must take this test as it is a graduation requirement.  Please encourage your student to get a good night’s rest, eat a nice breakfast, and arrive to school on time.

Senior Parents

Encourage your child to start looking for scholarships.  As I receive them at school, I am forwarding them to the student’s email.  There are many free sites that they can create an account and search scholarships that are relevant for them.  Some of the sites include:

www.tuitionfundingsources.com

www.fastweb.com

www.studentscholarships.org

www.scholarships.com/

FAFSA

Students who are going to college in the fall, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens October 1.  There is FREE money that is available on a first come, first serve basis.  Last year, the free money ran out mid January.Senior Parents, as stated in the mailing that was sent on September 25, the FAFSA must be completed to meet graduation requirements.  Kaskaskia College will be here on October 15 from 6:00-7:30 to help us through this process.  It is encouraged that you and your student attend to get this checked off.  If you are planning on attending, please let me know ahead of time.
